- Financial Stability: We operate in a way that builds and maintains our long term fiscal health, through year over year balance sheet growth.
- National Leadership and Collaboration: Being a leader in the broader Ds movement by setting and holding ourselves to a high standard of mission focus, efficacy and professionalism.
- High Quality Staff: Ensuring our Executive Director and staff are empowered, professional, competent, mission-passionate, and skilled.
DSAIA was founded under the premise that there was a lack of professionalism and sharing of best practices within the Ds community. In order to be the role model for others to follow and respect, we must “be the change we want to see.” This translates into having a healthy and sustainable funding model and not only a presence but a leadership role on the national level. All of this would be executed by quality, trained, skilled, and experienced staff. If we want others to follow, then we must set the example.
Positives of Strategy:
- Not Just Characteristics Reserved for For-Profits, These Are Sound Business Practices - Any Healthy Organization Operates Using Best Practices.
- If We Do Not Conduct Our Own Business in a Professional, Respectful Manner, Then No Affiliate Organizations Will Follow Us, Leading to Decreased and Unsustainable Membership Levels.
- Conducting Ourselves As No Other National Organization Currently Does, Then DSAIA Becomes the Beacon That Others Will Look to for Guidance.
- Shouldn't High Quality Staff Be a Given in an Organization Like DSAIA? Do We Really Need to "Write It In?".
- Competition - There Are Other, Non-Ds Related, Resources Affiliates Can Get the Same Model of Professionalism From. Leadership Advice Can Be Accessed in Local Communities.
- Reputation - Does DSAIA Have the Reputation to Pull This Off and Do We Have the Right Board Leadership to Improve This Reputation?
